In Adult Safeguarding our goal is to empower and work with people to enable individuals to live gloriously ordinary lives where they are free from abuse and neglect. We are recruiting an experienced safeguarding lead practitioner to join our team in this new role, guiding social work practitioners to support and empower residents of Blackpool to remain independent and live longer and more safely in their own communities.
We are looking to recruit a Practice Development Lead for Safeguarding with a focus in Adult Social Care in our community and health-linked teams. The role focuses on the continuous development and embedding of safeguarding practice, supporting staff and managing a small caseload of safeguarding enquiries. The role promotes a learning culture, provides systems advice, and drives Continuous Professional Development across the Adult Social Care Teams.
These post holders will carry their own caseload of safeguarding work, work alongside the management team to embed robust evidence-based practice, ensure Making Safeguarding Personal is a priority and help ensure that our policies, procedures and training remain fit for purpose. The work includes direct mentoring and coaching of less experienced staff, some joint working, general safeguarding-related information and advice, direct training, and leading on peer support and feedback via written and verbal reports to appropriate governance.
The role will support Team Managers in interpreting quality assurance feedback and data from safeguarding audits, and will drive forward best practice. It will also involve developing better partnership-working with Blackpool Providers alongside health colleagues to achieve the best outcomes and improve provision of services for the people of Blackpool.
Responsibilities
* Direct mentoring and coaching of less experienced staff and some joint working on safeguarding issues.
* Provide safeguarding-related information and advice, direct training, and lead on peer support and feedback to governance bodies.
* Interpret quality assurance feedback and safeguarding audit data; drive forward best practice.
* Develop partnership-working with Blackpool Providers and health colleagues to improve service provision and outcomes for residents.
* Carry a small caseload of safeguarding enquiries in addition to leadership responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience as a safeguarding lead practitioner in adult social care.
* Ability to mentor and coach staff; experience in training and supporting staff development.
* Experience with interpreting quality assurance data and contributing to governance reports.
* Ability to work collaboratively with partners in health and local providers.
