Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our Eye Treatment Centre at Whipps Cross Hospital. This role is ideal for a registered Nurse or ODP with strong experience in anaesthetics and recovery who is keen to take on a leadership role.You will play a key part in delivering safe, high-quality peri-operative care, supporting anaesthetists, and leading junior staff across theatres and pre-assessment. You will also contribute to teaching, service improvement, and the smooth running of theatre lists.You should be a confident team player with good communication skills, able to work independently when required, and committed to maintaining high clinical standards and patient safety. Experience in ophthalmology is desirable but not essential.

This post is based at Whipps Cross Hospital, with the expectation to work across other Barts Health NHS Trust sites if required.

Main duties of the job

To establish, lead and maintain high standards of pre/ peri and post-operative clinical care.o To coordinate clinical activities and develop clinical expertise through leadership.o To undertake teaching and training of both trained and untrained staffo To develop management skills and undertake management duties as directed by the Senior Sistero To ensure that skilled assistance is provided to the anaesthetist, as per Royal College of Anaesthetists' guidelines.o To be responsible for the provision of high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives.
