Cover Supervisor
Required as soon as possible
£21,866 to £23,360 actual salary (Point 13 to 17 Essex Scale 6)
32.5 hours per week (8.00 am to 3.30 pm daily)
Term time only

We are looking for a creative, self-motivated and confident person to join our dedicated team of cover supervisors. The successful candidate will cover lessons for absent teaching staff and work across the whole curriculum. You will supervise work that has been set by the teacher to ensure continuity of learning and manage the behaviour of students in the classroom to encourage an effective learning environment. No teaching experience is required; however, this role may suit anyone considering teaching as a career or someone returning to the profession.

* High levels of literacy, numeracy and good communication skills.
* The vision and commitment to continually raise levels of achievement.
* Knowledge and understanding of the key principles in delivering a classroom lesson (desirable but not essential as training will be provided).

Southchurch High School is an oversubscribed 11-16 mixed comprehensive school. We are fortunate to be housed in a spacious, modern building, one wing of which has been recently refurbished. We have recently moved into our new 4 court Sports Hall. These developments have helped to give the School a very positive future.
Southchurch High School is situated near one of Southend's many attractive Victorian conservation areas. The area benefits from being very close to the lively Southend town centre as well as a short walk from the attractive Cliff Gardens and the seafront.
Southend also benefits from superb transport links, the School is a short walk from Southend East train station on the Fenchurch Street line and Southend Victoria, on the Liverpool Street line, is just a short bus ride from the School. Both rail lines are less than an hour away into London.
