Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative CAD Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and production of protective foam products, with a strong understanding of CAD/CAM software. You will be responsible for creating detailed 2D layouts for foam cutting as well as contributing to 3D and complex product design when needed. This role requires a keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver precise and efficient designs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop 2D CAD drawings for the layout and cutting of protective foam products and tool control foam inlays.
* Design and develop specialist solutions and custom projects as required by clients to further extend the solutions we offer.
* Collaborate with the clients and our internal team to ensure designs are accurate and agreed by the client before programming for manufacture.
* Utilise the in-house developed Lightbox to capture tool profiles and KIT tool library to re-use existing tool profiles.
* Utilise CAD software to create detailed and precise designs that meet client specifications.
* Utilise CAM software to program CNC router to achieve best quality and efficient production finish.
* Occasionally operate a 3-axis router to cut foam.
* Supporting the continual development of our internal KIT tool library to further enhance our service and offering to clients.
* Utilise agile processes and tools to plan and track work progress.
* Apply creative problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions for complex design challenges.
* Assist in the development of 3D designs and complex product configurations as required.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in CAD/CAM technologies.
* Work closely with clients to understand their needs and translate them into functional design solutions.
* Ensure all designs adhere to quality standards and meet project deadlines.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a CAD Designer, preferably in the protective foam products industry but not essential.
* Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. MasterCAM, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
* Strong understanding of 2D design and layout principles, with experience in foam cutting.
* Familiarity with 3D design and the ability to contribute to complex product designs.
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and precision in design work.
* Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and self-reliant.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with clients and team members effectively.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to foam products is ideal.
* Project oriented, focused on quality and delivery
* Willingness to learn and attempt all tasks, even those not necessarily directly related to day-to-day responsibilities

Note: Due to the nature of the role and related products, this is an office-based position, therefore a full driving license and own vehicle is preferable.
