Job overview Purpose of volunteering role : To help maintain and develop green spaces for an inpatient mental health hospital - Heath Lane Hospital. This is a voluntary role which is unpaid. Advert Volunteers will use their gardening knowledge and expertise to help design, grow and maintain the green space at Heath Lane Hospital. We would like volunteers to plant, weed, prune and tidy the areas. We would like volunteers with an interest in plants and ideas to share about making a therapeutic natural environment. Create a plan together to meet your volunteering goals Detailed job description and main responsibilities We are looking for volunteers who have these qualities: Must be available to volunteer on Fridays, 10-12. Must be able to travel to Heath Lane Hospital (travel expenses via public transport/car can be reimbursed). Will also need to be comfortable with working with inpatients, struggling with their mental health. Knowledge of plants and skills in gardening Physical ability to do low level gardening activities such as planting, pruning, weeding, maintenance of paths. Awareness of mental health and desire to help patients Punctual and reliable. Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries for their own safety and safety of the patients.
