About St Elizabeth’s

Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, St Elizabeth’s Centre is a national charity supporting children, young people, and adults with complex needs. Our Specialist School offers a unique and bespoke learning environment for children and young people aged 5–16 with a wide range of learning difficulties, disabilities, and health conditions, including epilepsy and autism. It’s a calm, structured, and aspirational environment where meaningful learning takes place every day.

We are proud to be a values-led organisation — aspirational, collaborative, joyful, and compassionate — and we’re looking for a talented teacher who shares our commitment to helping young people live life to the full.

About the Role

This is not a conventional teaching role. This is a position where you will change lives, build deep connections, and be inspired daily by the courage and potential of your students.

At St Elizabeth’s, we are looking for a Teacher who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and young people between ages 5 – 16. This is more than a teaching role, it’s a chance to be part of a nurturing team where every moment is about empowering students to thrive in their own unique way.

With classes supporting up to 8 students, you will be able to foster a learning environment where every child feels valued, respected, and understood with the support of a wider multi-disciplinary team of Teaching Assistants, Therapists and Nurses all based on-site here at St Elizabeth’s.

What you’ll do:

1. Plan and deliver creative, adapted lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
2. Work closely with Learning Support Assistants and therapy teams to provide holistic support
3. Use a variety of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and AAC
4. Track, assess, and report on progress toward academic, personal, and vocational goals
5. Celebrate every achievement — no matter how big or small!

About You

6. You’re a committed educator with a flexible and person-centred approach. You understand that success for our learners looks different, and you celebrate every step of the journey.
7. UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
8. Experience working with learners with special educational needs
9. Ability to adapt teaching for learners with complex profiles
10. Strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills
11. Passion for inclusive education and holistic child development

Why Join St Elizabeth’s?

12. A supportive and inclusive team culture
13. Structured induction, training, and CPD tailored to SEN
14. Enhanced DBS paid for by us
15. Teachers’ Pension Scheme
16. Free on-site parking and countryside setting
17. Access to the wellbeing platform, discounts, and staff benefits
18. Recommend a Friend bonus scheme
