Job Overview
The BCUHB Older Adult Clinical Psychology Service is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced band 8a Clinical Psychologist, or band 7 Clinical Psychologist as part of a fully supported development post. The post is based in Flintshire (Wepre House, Connah's Quay).
The BCUHB Older Adult Psychology department consists of a friendly and supportive team with strong clinical and research links to the School of Psychology and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) Department at the University of Wales, Bangor. The department offers ongoing peer support, supervision, and opportunities for training and advancement. There are cross-specialty links across North Wales with opportunities for research and clinical networking in North Wales and across Wales. North Wales offers a high quality of life with outdoor access and easy links to Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester.
Main duties of the job
This is a permanent 8a or band 7 development post. The post holder will provide specialist clinical input and support to both the Memory Assessment Service MDT and the Older People’s Community Mental Health Team (OPMH CMHT). A band 7 post holder may progress to 8a once competencies for 8a level are demonstrated.
The role involves delivering tailored individual and group psychological therapies to an Older Adult population, conducting specialist neuropsychological assessments and formulations, and providing pre- and post-diagnostic support and intervention. The post holder will also train, supervise, and contribute to formulation work, and will work with multidisciplinary colleagues, attending clinical MDT meetings, team referral meetings, and service-wide meetings. Enthusiasm and commitment are essential.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Honours Degree in Psychology
* Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Post-graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or trained overseas), as accredited by the British Psychological Society
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Experience
Essential criteria
* Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, normally including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality or relevant transferable skills
* Demonstration of further specialist training or experience through extensive and demonstrable clinical supervision as a clinical psychologist or an agreed alternative
Desirable criteria
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
