Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Business Studies Teacher to join our educational institution in Reading, Berkshire. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching to students, fostering a supportive and effective learning environment that encourages academic success and personal development.

Job Duties

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective Business Studies lessons in accordance with the curriculum and examination board requirements.
Assess and monitor students’ progress through marking, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records.
Develop teaching materials and resources that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
Support students’ academic and personal development by offering guidance and encouragement.
Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practises.
Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including coursework and controlled assessments.
Engage with parents or guardians to communicate student progress and address any concerns.
Keep up to date with developments in Business Studies and educational best practise through continuous professional development.
Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.

Required Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related subject.

Education

Strong academic background in Business Studies or related discipline at degree level or higher.
Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to secondary education and Business Studies.

Experience

Proven experience teaching Business Studies at secondary or further education level.
Experience in preparing students for GCSE, A-level, or equivalent examinations is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students of varying abilities.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of the Business Studies curriculum and current examination specifications.
Strong subject knowledge in areas such as marketing, finance, business operations, and economics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
Effective organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and manage time efficiently.
Proficiency in utilising educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
Ability to assess student work accurately and provide constructive feedback.
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to student welfare.

Preferred Qualifications

Further qualifications or training in education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
Experience in delivering vocational Business qualifications or BTEC courses.
Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Additional skills in related subjects such as Economics, Accounting, or Enterprise.

Working Conditions

The role is based within a classroom setting in an educational institution located in Reading, Berkshire.
Full-time working hours, typically during standard school hours with occasional additional hours for meetings, preparation, and events.
Engagement in activities outside of direct teaching, including professional development and departmental collaboration.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and positive learning environment in line with school policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
