We are delighted to invite applications for a permanent Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) to join our dynamic team supporting Mintlaw Academy and feeder primary schools and the wider North Aberdeenshire locality. This is a 0.44 WTE termtime only position, ideal for SCPHNs seeking an opportunity to work in a vibrant school environment while contributing to the delivery of national School Nursing priorities.
About the Role
As a School Nurse (SCPHN), you will work autonomously to deliver the 10 Priority School Nursing Pathways, supporting vulnerable children and families. Our priority pathways are:
Mental health and emotional wellbeing
Substance misuse
Sexual Health
Youth Justice
Child protection
Domestic abuse
Young carers
Homelessness
Lookedafter children
Transitions
You will assess health needs, provide early and targeted intervention, ensuring the voices, rights and wellbeing of children and young people are central to all decisionmaking. Working in partnership with Education, Social Work, CAMHS, community partners and families, you will contribute to coordinated, highquality support through the GIRFEC framework.
You will have the opportunity to deliver meaningful public health interventions, make visible improvements in outcomes, and build therapeutic relationships.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate practitioner who:
Is a Registered Nurse or Midwife with a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) qualification who
Has strong assessment, clinical and analytical skills
Demonstrates traumainformed, childcentred and rightsbased practice
Has knowledge/experience in child protection.
Can navigate complex and sensitive situations with professionalism
Works effectively with multiagency partners
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Is committed to continuous improvement, learning and reflective practice
Is confident managing a caseload and working independently
Has a basic knowledge of IT systems
Holds a valid driving licence

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
