We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll & Accounts Assistant to join a well‑established, purpose‑led organisation operating within a global group. This is a varied and hands‑on role, offering responsibility across payroll, management accounting, VAT and banking, with exposure to senior stakeholders and international operations.
Based at the UK head office in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, this is a permanent, hybrid role that would suit someone who enjoys working to deadlines, collaborating across departments, and taking ownership of key finance processes. You'll be joining a supportive finance team within a business that values continuous improvement, professional development and a positive workplace culture.
Main Responsibilities
* Preparation and processing of payroll for 250+ employees, including overtime and holiday pay
* Liaising closely with HR and external payroll providers to ensure payroll accuracy
* Preparing and posting month‑end journals and accruals
* Producing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
* Posting intercompany recharges and month‑end adjustments
* Preparing monthly VAT reports in line with Making Tax Digital requirements
* Assisting with payment runs, bank postings and bank reconciliations
* Supporting expenses processing, system set‑up and user training
* Preparing annual PSA (PAYE Settlement Agreement) and P11D workings
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and ad‑hoc finance projects
Skills / Experience
* AAT qualified or equivalent
* Proven experience in payroll processing
* Strong background in management accounting
* Excellent Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables and data analysis
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure
* Strong attention to detail with a proactive, organised approach
Salary & Working Hours
* Competitive salary, dependent on experience
