Job overview
The Claims Officer role oversees an integral part of our process for healthcare provided to eligible EEA and Swiss citizens in accordance with reciprocal healthcare agreements. You will work within Overseas Healthcare Services in Citizen Services.

Main duties of the job
The Claims Officer will review and assess finance data and records from healthcare facilities, EEA member states, and Switzerland to process reimbursement claims according to procedures, policies, and instructions. Effective communication and customer service skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with stakeholders and adapting to process and technology updates. Initially home-based, attendance at Bridge House, Newcastle, is required for interviews and as needed.

Accountabilities include ensuring claims processing aligns with governance and policies, maintaining records, adhering to GDPR, managing workloads, analyzing data, liaising with stakeholders, communicating effectively, contributing to service development, meeting performance targets, organizing paperwork, following safety and diversity policies, and undertaking additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Essential: Minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent experience/education.
Desirable: Demonstrable initiative.
Experience
Essential: Data validation and analysis, following technical instructions, resolving complex queries, working under pressure, customer or clerical environment experience.
Desirable: NHS or large organization experience, use of Case Management systems, data entry, written communication skills.
Personal qualities, knowledge, and skills
Essential: IT literacy, procedural and policy understanding, knowledge of Data Protection Act, excellent communication, adaptability, self-management, accuracy, quick learning.
Desirable: Knowledge of reciprocal healthcare arrangements, handling dissatisfied customers.
