Job Overview
Active woman with learning difficulties living in her own home in Gifford, East Lothian, is looking for permanent and relief female Personal Assistants to join a small existing team.
Working Hours
Permanent Staff: Alternate weekends from 9:30 am Saturday to 5:00 pm Sunday. These hours can be filled by one or two workers splitting the shifts. Applications from people looking for 15 hours or less per week are welcome.
Relief and temporary staff: Due to staff illness we are looking for temporary staff to cover one or two shifts on alternate Fridays. Must be able to drive. Other hours are available on an ad hoc basis as and when required to cover staff illness and holidays.
Role Responsibilities
Main duties involve supporting her in her daily life, ensuring her safety and wellbeing. She has numerous interests and hobbies, including sports, arts and crafts, cycling, walking, badminton, golf, swimming, and gardening; PAs will assist her in participating in these activities. Within the home, duties include assistance with cooking, laundry, help with personal care and general housekeeping.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience in the care sector is advantageous. A clean full driving licence valid in the UK, with ability to drive an automatic car, is required. The candidate should have access to a vehicle, as public transport links to Gifford are poor. The postholder must be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or be willing to join.
Compensation
Rate of pay is £13.00 per hour from 6:00 am to 9:30 pm. Night hour pay is £12.00 per hour from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am. Occasional overtime may be required to cover staff annual leave or illness.
