CNC Operator
Bay Productions is a "one stop" facility that offers a world class service to the Opera, Theatre, TV Events and Exhibition industry. Bay Productions is the creation of industry professionals with over 50 years' experience of managing large scenery workshops. Our staff have had the opportunity over many years to collaborate with world renowned designers and construct scenery for the largest and most prestigious production companies in the world.
Our extensive Carpentry and Joinery department encompasses a wide and varied range of skills, services and techniques. From simple timber frames to intricately designed pieces, using many different materials alongside conventional timber and ply construction techniques, we have the experience and capability.
We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator, who have a background in Stage/Theatre to join the team working here in Cardiff. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together bespoke structures or parts using the necessary skill and precision.
Responsibilities
* Read technical drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
* Work with the carpentry shop, providing components and assistance to 15 carpenters when needed.
* Perform proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on projects.
* Determine the appropriate tools/machinery and method based on requirements.
* Set up components once made to assemble structures.
* Comply with relevant H&S regulations.
* Excellent understanding of Carpentry methods and techniques.
* Demonstrate proficiency when using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
* Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
* Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.
* Cutting various materials and tool-pathing designs, adapting to different project specification and requirements.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a CNC Operator is essential.
* Proven experience of the safe use of working with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
* Experienced in using all wood working equipment and the relevant procedures.
* Extensive knowledge of machine maintenance and operation required
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
* Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
* Deftness and attention to detail.
* Professional Certification would be an advantage.
* Ability to draw basic shapes and good understanding of sizes and scaling.
* Ability to use initiative to implement own ideas to produce high quality work to designated deadlines.
* Knowledge of the VCarv system. (Full training is provided)

Pay: From £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 39 per week
