Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career or a Band 6 nurse looking to broaden their experience within the Chemotherapy Day Unit. We seek a dynamic, motivated individual to support the Unit Manager in managing the unit, leading and developing the nursing team to deliver compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care, and providing fair and honest people management.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision, and guidance (in line with NMC standards), offer expert clinical advice, and undertake management and monitoring activities in accordance with legal, professional, and organizational policies. They will assist with managing the unit's budget, deploying the nursing team effectively, and utilizing resources efficiently.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge (Essential):
* Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Part 1)
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant health-related subject or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
* Understanding of quality and service improvement methodologies (e.g., Bronze IQT)
* Sound knowledge of the NMC Code
Qualifications & Knowledge (Desirable):
* Teaching qualification or equivalent experience
* Recognized management qualification
* Understanding of broader nursing and healthcare agendas
Experience (Essential):
* Relevant clinical experience
* Experience working in a multi-professional environment
* Experience in shift leadership
* Experience mentoring preregistration nursing/midwifery students
Experience (Desirable):
* Specialty-specific experience with sound knowledge of the field
* Team coordination experience
* Experience facilitating learning in practice
