Financial Controller, with the opportunity to progress to Finance Director.

The Role: The Financial Controller will work alongside the company's board of directors and senior management, taking overall control and responsibility for all aspects of the company's financial strategy. The successful candidate will be an exceptional accountant, hands-on with company finances, and commercially astute. They should be keen to develop a full commercial and operational understanding of the business, analyzing figures and operational processes, and implementing recommendations and efficiencies to drive the business forward and maximize profitable growth.

Salary and Benefits: GBP (phone number removed) plus benefits including 25 days holiday, 8 bank holidays, company pension, hybrid/flexible working, healthcare, free parking, discounted produce, Christmas food box, etc.

The Financial Controller will be based at the Head Office in Chew Valley (Bishop Sutton, BS39), 12 miles south of Bristol and Bath. While hybrid/flexible working is supported, the successful candidate should reside within an easy commuting distance to be hands-on and flexible to meet business needs.

Experience in the food service industry is not required, but candidates should have worked in similarly fast-paced and time-critical environments.

Responsibilities:

* Undertake financial and process analysis.
* Forecast and formulate targets and annual budgets.
* Conduct cost analysis.
* Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports.
* Review financial reports and investigate variances.
* Prepare annual accounts.
* Ensure robust financial systems and procedures are in place and followed.
* Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance financial performance.
* Share insights and promote financial accountability across departments.
* Manage the audit process and liaise with external bodies.
* Lead the finance team, conducting regular 1-to-1 meetings.
* Manage ongoing cash flow.
* Ensure compliance with the company's health and safety policies.

Skills and Experience:

* Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or ICAEW).
* Holistic view of finance function, ideally gained in small or medium-sized businesses.
* Commercially astute with strong operational and financial understanding.
* Experience in fast-paced, time-critical environments.
* Strategic financial analysis and planning skills.
* Proven ability to recommend and implement process improvements.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, influential at all levels.
* Collaborative team player and motivational leader.
* IT literate, highly numerate, with excellent attention to detail.
* Self-starter with a hands-on approach and a positive, can-do attitude.
