Engineering & Fleet Workshop ManagerLocation: LeicesterSalary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (DOE)Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (flexibility required to meet operational needs)Impact Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager on behalf of one of the UK's leading recycling and waste management businesses.This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing organisation, taking responsibility for a busy engineering and fleet maintenance operation. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of both fleet and engineering functions while leading a multi-skilled team.The Role:As Engineering & Fleet Workshop Manager, you will oversee all maintenance activities across the business, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and high standards of service delivery. You will be responsible for leading engineering personnel, managing budgets and KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring all workshop activities are delivered safely and effectively.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage a multi-skilled engineering team, including Fleet Maintenance Coordinators, Fleet Administrators, HGV Technicians, Fixed Engineers, and Field MHE EngineersEnsure all maintenance activities are delivered in line with company maintenance strategies and operational requirementsMaintain compliance with all relevant legislation and standards, including LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, Road Transport Legislation, Health & Safety regulations, ISO systems, and Service Level AgreementsManage and develop engineering personnel through coaching, performance reviews, training, and succession planningOversee the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure accurate maintenance records are maintainedManage engineering stock control, inventory levels, and replenishment processesProduce, analyse, and present departmental KPIs and performance reportsCollaborate closely with operational and HSEQ teams to improve efficiency, safety, and performanceBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and external contractorsMonitor departmental expenditure and manage budgets effectivelyDrive continuous improvement initiatives and utilise root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve reliabilityManage attendance, performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters where requiredDeliver daily team briefings and maintain excellent housekeeping standards across workshop areasRequirements:Previous experience managing a fleet workshop, engineering department, or maintenance operationQualified HGV MechanicProven experience leading multi-skilled engineering and maintenance teamsStrong understanding of maintenance compliance, statutory inspections, and health & safety legislationExperience managing KPIs, budgets, and operational performanceExcellent organisational and planning skillsStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and maintenance management systemsAbility to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environmentPersonal Attributes:Strong leadership and people management skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesProactive, driven, and results-focused approachStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilitiesAbility to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teamsComfortable operating in a fast-moving and demanding environmentWhat's On Offer:Competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experienceCompany laptop and mobile phone33 days annual leave including bank holidaysEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Employee discount and savings schemeOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesOpportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing and operationally critical businessIf you are an experienced Engineering, Maintenance, Fleet, or Workshop Manager looking for your next challenge, we'd like to hear from you.Apply today with an up-to-date CV.Impact Recruitment are acting as an employment agency on behalf of our client.TPBN1_UKTJ
