Milk Education is working with a secondary school in Middlesbrough with a specialist SEND provision, and we are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with Autism and complex needs.
This role is ideal for someone patient, caring, and committed to helping children feel safe, understood, and included in their learning. You may be supporting pupils who are non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require a high level of individual support. A calm and non-judgemental approach is essential.
Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and complex SEND
2. Support the delivery of Individual Education Plans and behaviour strategies
3. Encourage emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development
4. Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
5. Support with personal care where required, with training provided
6. Monitor and record pupil progress
7. Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements
8. Recent experience in an education setting within the last five years
9. Understanding of classroom routines and the primary curriculum
10. Ability to support pupils individually and in small groups
11. A patient and nurturing approach
12. Strong communication skills
13. Ability to work well as part of a team
14. Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
15. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
