Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer specialising in Product Testing to join our dynamic team in Manchester, United Kingdom. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in supporting our prototype testing team across various aspects of product testing and equipment development.
* Understand unique product testing requirements and identify appropriate test equipment needs
* Create comprehensive test plans and experiments to ensure accurate and reliable results
* Produce detailed reports with graphical test data, concluding the outcome of tests
* Present findings to the testing group and stakeholders, providing insight on key test events
* Design, assemble, and commission prototype test equipment
* Develop new processes, procedures, and software tools to enhance efficiency and consistency
* Produce 3D and 2D designs of mechanical test equipment and assembly tools
* Conduct hand calculations and simulations (FEA/CFD) to validate new rig and equipment designs
* Contribute to project planning, cost estimations, and CAPEX business cases
* Ensure a safe work environment by applying general safety practices and organisational methods like 5S
* Self-manage schedule, provide commitments, and execute tasks effectively
* Contribute to team improvement projects and apply a methodical approach to fault-finding and root cause analyses
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree (4/5 years) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
* 2-5 years of experience in Design/Engineering, with a focus on product testing and prototype development
* Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software, preferably with experience in CAD applications
* Strong knowledge of FEA/CFD simulations and hand calculations for design validation
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
* Experience in test planning, execution, and reporting
* Familiarity with project planning, cost estimation, and CAPEX business case development
* Understanding of safety practices and 5S methodology
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly
* Innovative mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork
* Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills
* Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and their application in product testing
