Are you a technically strong Senior Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges and working directly with clients to deliver real business impact?
We’re looking for a commercially minded engineer to join a growing team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to design, build and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that power analytics and AI‑driven decision‑making for leading UK organisations.

What you’ll be doing:
* Design, build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines using Python and modern data engineering tools
* Translate complex business and data challenges into practical engineering solutions
* Lead technical scoping and delivery from requirements gathering through to deployment and support
* Build and maintain data models, transformation layers and orchestration frameworks
* Work closely with clients, presenting technical solutions in a clear and accessible way
* Champion data quality, governance and engineering best practices
* Mentor junior engineers and help shape a culture of technical excellence
* Collaborate with Cloud, MLOps and Analytics teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
* Support proposals, demos and client relationship development where needed
What we’re looking for:
* 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering or a similar technical discipline
* Strong Python skills with production‑level engineering experience
* Experience with tools/frameworks such as pandas, Polars, DBT
* Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and medallion architecture
* Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or GCP
* Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect or Dagster
* Strong SQL skills and experience with modern warehouse/lakehouse architectures
* Familiarity with Git, CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code practices
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience in a client‑facing or consulting environment (or strong desire to develop this)
* Ambition to move into team leadership / people management
Nice to have:
* Experience with PySpark / Databricks
* Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka or AWS Kinesis
* Knowledge of data governance and quality frameworks
