An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and passionate band 4 Associate mental health worker. The post is based within the Dennis Scott Unit, an acute mental health unit for working aged adults. The post holder will work across the borough and deliver interventions working alongside a wide range of clinical teams. Successful candidates will have strong engagement and motivation skills and be able to work well with service users with complex mental health needs. This role will offer you the chance to develop your skills in community setting, alongside a supportive and creative team.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertake a range of duties which involve direct patient care, in some cases under supervision following competency assessment
2. Assist in the coordination of care delivery for a case load of service users in the community with mental health problems including those with severe and enduring mental illness under the supervision of a registered professional, in close collaboration with the Directorate, psychiatric multidisciplinary team, service users and other community agencies.
3. Work under the supervision of qualified staff that supervise their caseload but they work independently with their service users.
4. Contribute to the monitoring of the physical environment ensuring that it is safe and conducive to the therapeutic work of the unit/community setting.
5. Have informed knowledge and understanding in the psychological, social, physical, and spiritual needs of all service users and carers
6. Actively participate in the care and rehabilitation of service users and carers as per the plan of care determined by the MDT
7. Maintain clear, timely, comprehensive and contemporaneous written clinical records on all patients in accordance with Trust policies
8. Utilising IT skills and knowledge to access and input clinical information and data to the Trust Electronic System (RiO) and Local Authority IT system.
9. Using the Care Programme Approach assess service users’ health and social care needs

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level IV in care or equivalent OR Two years (minimum) working experience in a mental health setting.

* Evidence of recent study.
