Welcome from the Principal:
Outwood Academy Bydales is an 11-16 school located in the beautiful coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the North York Moors National Park and with spectacular views of the coastline. We are extremely proud of our tradition of serving the families of the community of Marske and surrounding areas. Our recent Ofsted Inspection recognised the many strengths of the school as we secured judgements of Good across all areas. The report was extremely positive and had many highlights, including that we are 'an ambitious school with high standards', that 'Staff care deeply for pupils', that 'Pupils are happy and demonstrate industrious attitudes to learning' and that 'Pupils experience great success’.
About the role:
Are you passionate about ensuring every student maximises their potential through consistent attendance? As an Attendance Officer, you will be crucial in implementing whole-school strategies designed to improve attendance levels and actively reduce persistent absence. This role blends operational duties—such as conducting home visits and late gate patrols—with essential administrative support, requiring resilient engagement with students and parents to address attendance barriers.
We are looking to appoint an energetic individual who will be responsible for the operational and administrative support to promote whole school attendance strategies. This is in order to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence, in line with academy targets under the supervision of our Educational Welfare Officer.
The ideal candidate will be extremely well organised and solution focused, have excellent communication skills, and be able to remain calm in a busy school environment. You will be able to work on your own initiative and work within an already established team and maintain standards of confidentiality at all times. You will have the ability to motivate and engage our students and families, ideally having previous experience of working with students and families within an education environment. Daily home visits will be required as part of this role so a current full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle will be essential. Strong IT skills and practical experience of using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, are essential for this role.
