Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor delivering specialist infrastructure and maintenance works across Hampshire and the Guildford region. They have a strong orderbook for the next 2 years and are seeking a PM to join their expanding team.
The Role
We are seeking a Project Manager to join the civil engineering business, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility to work from home, attend the office near Guildford, and manage site visits across the region.
The position includes involvement in a long-term framework in Hertfordshire (typically one site visit per week), alongside the delivery of multiple live civil engineering projects across Hampshire and surrounding areas.
The role would suit either:
* An experienced Project Manager ready for a senior-level role, or
* A strong Junior / Assistant Project Manager looking to take the next step and run their own projects, with support from senior management.
Project Types
* Deep drainage works (£500k - £1m)
* Structural repairs
* Parapet wall works
* Bridge removals
* Full bridge repairs and refurbishments
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of civil engineering projects from pre-start to completion
* Managing budgets, programmes, and site teams
* Oversight of a long-term framework in Hertfordshire, including weekly site attendance
* Client, consultant, and stakeholder management
* Contract administration, variations, and commercial performance
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental standards
* Reporting progress and performance directly to the Managing Director
About You
* Experience in civil engineering project delivery (PM, Junior PM, or Assistant PM level)
* Strong civil engineering knowledge and technical capability
* Understands the process for design
* High organisational skills
* Assist in developing the site teams
* Strong commercial awareness
* Programming ability using ASTA OR MS Project
* Ambitious, proactive, and keen to develop into a senior role
* Experience in drainage and/or structural works is highly advantageous
* Confident communicator with the potential to grow into a leadership role
Package
* £60,000 - £70,000, depending on experience and level
