Receptionists play a vital role in helping patients, carers and healthcare professionals access the care they need and make a difference every day.
The hours for this position are 1.30-6.30pm Monday-Friday.
Main duties of the job
Providing frontline and back office support for a large GP practice.
This includes:
-Answering calls/emails from patients
-Handling incoming medication requests, pathology results
-Supporting with onward referrals
-Dealing with hospital correspondence
-Any other duties as required by the practice

JOB PURPOSESUMMARY: To provide efficient and effective front line services to patients,clinicians and other stakeholders.
To project a friendly and helpful image to patients and other visitorsat all times in person, telephone and other communication methods.
To take ownership of relevant tasks and projects to ensure they arecompleted to a high level of quality in a timely manner.
To be aware of and follow patient confidentiality and other practiceprotocols at all times.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Dealing with patient queries and requests viaface-to-face, telephone, email and other forms of contact.
Processing and allocating prescriptions inconjunction with the clinical team
Providing front line services to our walk-in centreand branch surgery
Processing patient registrations and deductions onthe practice list
Maintaining patients electronic medical records andaccessing information when required
Contact patients for recalls and follow-ups asrequired by the practice team
Booking patient transport, interpreter and otherrelevant services
Photocopying
Dealing with incoming and outgoing post/faxes
Effective communication with other team andpractice staff members
Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
Any other duties as required by the management andPartners
PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
The post-holder will participate in any relevanttraining programmes implemented by the practice as part of this employment:
Participation in an annual individual performancereview
Taking responsibility for own development, learningand performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others whereappropriate.
The job description will be reviewed after 6 months with the postholder, and may be amended following discussion.

* Previous receptionist experience in the Healthcare sector
