Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (Apprentice)
Start date: February 2026 (fixed‑term post for 2 years)
Salary: Annex 21 – 70% top of Band 4 year 1 and 75% top of Band 4 year 2
The Pharmacy Department at Croydon University Hospital has a great reputation for providing excellent training opportunities for both Trainee Pharmacists and Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians.
We are looking for enthusiastic, self‑motivated and hard‑working individuals to join our forward‑thinking pharmacy team as a Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician Apprentice (PTPT). Successful applicants will complete a GPhC accredited qualification and, upon successful completion, will meet the GPhC’s requirements for professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
PTPTs will study one day a week and demonstrate competence in the workplace. They will participate in a rotational training programme that includes clinical ward services, dispensary, patient counselling, medicines information and pharmacy stores and procurement. Each area will have a comprehensive education plan overseen by an experienced education supervisor.
Key responsibilities:
* Complete the GPhC accredited training programme.
* Participate in rotational training across clinical, dispensary, counselling and procurement areas.
* Demonstrate competence and progress toward professional registration.
* Support the pharmacy team with day‑to‑day duties and occasional responsibilities.
Qualifications and attributes:
* Highly committed and professional, patient‑focused.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to manage study and work commitments within a busy pharmacy environment.
* Good organisational skills and a willingness to work flexible hours (including late nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis).
