About the Role:
You will act as a technical lead on multiple projects, overseeing the production, coordination, and quality assurance of technical information. The role requires someone who is confident reviewing and monitoring the work of others, undertaking detailed QA checks prior to issue, and ensuring that all design information meets the highest technical, regulatory, and safety standards.
You will be client and contractor-facing, representing client at design team meetings, during construction, and through technical problem-solving on live projects. Operating at senior level, you will take ownership of technical compliance and programme delivery, while maintaining a strong office presence to guide, mentor, and support colleagues, helping to raise technical standards and capability across the team.
Projects You’re Likely to Work On:
The role will involve leading and contributing to a diverse portfolio of live and forthcoming projects, including:
* A £15m specialist residential care scheme, involving complex regulatory, safeguarding, and technical coordination requirements.
* £5m commercial office projects, including refurbishment and redevelopment works.
* Bespoke one-off private homes, with a strong emphasis on design quality, detailing, and direct client engagement.
* National retail refurbishment roll-out projects, delivered across multiple sites with consistent technical standards and fast-paced programmes.
This variety demands strong technical judgement, excellent coordination skills, and confidence working across different procurement routes and delivery models.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the technical delivery of projects from early design through to completion.
* Review, coordinate and quality-assure technical drawings and specifications prior to issue.
* Act as Lead Designer and undertake the Building Safety Act Principal Designer role where required.
* Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations, CDM 2015, British Standards, and associated guidance.
* Coordinate consultant and contractor information, resolving technical and construction-stage issues.
* Maintain a visible presence within the office to mentor team members, provide technical leadership, and support day-to-day problem-solving.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to repeat work and long-term partnerships.
About You:
* Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
* Extensive experience delivering technically complex projects.
* Listed building and heritage experience.
* Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM, British Standards and the Building Safety Act.
* Confident reviewing others’ work and taking accountability for technical output.
* Comfortable in senior client and contractor facing roles.
* Highly proficient in Revit, with experience of AutoCAD and associated software.
* Proactive, authoritative, and approachable, with a genuine interest in developing others.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.
