Rate of Pay: £20.56-£27.25/hour
Summary:
The Health & Safety Adviser will support the Health & Safety Senior Officer in delivering high-quality health and safety advisory services across council departments, with a specific focus on commercial operations and schools. This includes ensuring compliance with legislation, conducting audits and inspections, developing policies and training programs, and providing detailed support and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in the delivery and review of the Councils Health and Safety Strategy.
* Provide expert advice on compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices.
* Conduct audits and inspections across council buildings and schools, covering areas like asbestos, legionella, gas and electrical safety.
* Develop and communicate policies and guidance that support a strong health and safety culture.
* Monitor incident reporting systems, identify trends, and recommend preventive measures.
Requirements:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g., SCQF Level 10 or RQF/CQFW Level 6).
* Certified Member of IOSH.
* Literate and numerate to Level 3 standard.
* Proven experience in occupational health and safety.
* Experience producing management reports and delivering training.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience managing building safety issues (e.g., asbestos, legionella, gas, fire).
