Our client is seeking an experienced
Payroll Manager
to take ownership of payroll across their corporate functions and international contractor population. This is a critical role within the infrastructure business, ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly, and on time in a complex, multi-jurisdiction environment.
The role will suit a highly organised, detail-oriented payroll professional who has strong experience working with
outsourced payroll providers
and managing payroll for both UK-based employees and overseas contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* End-to-end payroll oversight
for our corporate employees and international contractors.
* Manage and act as primary contact for
outsourced payroll providers
in the UK and overseas.
* Review payroll data, reconciliations, and reports to ensure
accuracy and compliance
before sign-off.
* Coordinate closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll inputs (new starters, leavers, allowances, benefits, pensions, bonuses, expenses) are processed correctly.
* Ensure compliance with
UK tax legislation, employment law, and international reporting requirements

* Support expatriate and contractor payroll processes, including handling local compliance considerations in coordination with vendors.
* Develop and maintain effective payroll processes, controls, and documentation.
* Act as a point of escalation for payroll-related queries from employees and contractors.
* Contribute to payroll projects (e.g., process improvement, system upgrades, provider transitions).
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or Payroll Specialist, ideally in a
complex international or infrastructure environment

* Strong track record of managing
outsourced payroll providers
.
* Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and exposure to
international contractor or expat payroll
.
* Proficiency with payroll and HR systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* High attention to detail, numeracy, and ability to work independently.
