Mediplacements are looking for an experienced band 4/5 Ward/Dispenser Pharmacist to work at a hospital in Norfolk.
The pay for this position is £18 - £22 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an on-going duration.
As a ward and dispensary pharmacist, you will be responsible for managing the dispensary and ensuring that prescriptions are correctly prepared and labelled for outpatient use, as well as providing pharmaceutical care and medication management to patients admitted to hospital wards.
Job Responsibilities:
1. To organise and undertake the dispensing and distribution of all medicines
against a previously clinically checked prescription or request in line with departmental policies and procedures and the Medicines Act 1965 using the JAC computer system. To include the dispensing of all prescriptions to the following groups of patients:
Inpatients and outpatients of the hospital including discharge medication, to follow medication, repeat prescriptions and monitored dosage schemes.
* Patients attending specialist clinics/day units including to follow medication, repeat prescriptions and monitored dosage schemes.
* Inpatients within community hospitals under service level agreement with the NNUH including to follow medication, repeat prescriptions and monitored dosage schemes.
* Patients involved in clinical trials.
2. To dispense all controlled drugs (CDs) against a recognised order or
previously clinically checked prescription in line with departmental policies and
procedures and the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 using the JAC computer system.
3. To maintain documentation to support the dispensing of all medicines
including CDs.
4. To assist in the replacement of Dispensary stock including the ordering,
receipt and maintenance of stock records.
5. To issue medicines to all outpatients attending the Pharmacy Department to
include giving appropriate advice and counselling to ensure the effective use of medicines by the patient.
6. To carry out the processing of stock returned from wards with correct rotation
of short-dated items.
7. To assist in the training and where necessary competency assessment of all staff working within the Dispensary including Pharmacists, Foundation Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers, Senior Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Assistants, Admin & Clerical staff and apprentices.
8. To contribute to the efficiency and cost effectiveness of Pharmacy Services by
suggesting improvements and innovations to this Service as appropriate.
9. To assist in the maintenance of good housekeeping within the Dispensary and
supporting areas.
Successful candidates must hold an MPharm degree, be GPHC registered and have experience working as a wards and dispensary pharmacist.
