Where you'll be working:
Based within the New England North Coast region, the Building Strong Foundations (BSF) program is a culturally grounded initiative providing free, community-based services to Aboriginal children aged 0–5 and their families.
You'll join a dedicated and collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to improving early childhood outcomes and strengthening family wellbeing. This role provides a unique opportunity to walk alongside families on their health journey, in partnership with local Aboriginal communities, underpinned by the principles of cultural safety, empowerment, and equity.
About the role:
In this position, you will deliver culturally appropriate, person-centred child and family health nursing services to Aboriginal children and their families. Working closely with an Aboriginal Health Worker and the wider BSF team, you will build trusting relationships and provide support on topics such as infant development, sleep and feeding, parenting skills, and immunisation.
You’ll also provide early intervention and health promotion in collaboration with families and other service providers, advocating for the needs of families and supporting them to achieve positive health outcomes. Your contribution will be vital in progressing Closing the Gap goals by promoting equitable access to high-quality healthcare and early childhood support.
This is a Monday to Friday role (excluding public holidays) that offers both clinical variety and the chance to make a lasting impact.
About you:
You are a culturally competent and compassionate health professional who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal families. You’re a confident communicator with a flexible, team-focused approach and experience in Child and Family Health Nursing. You will also bring:
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, respectful relationships
* A genuine commitment to family-centred care
* The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and community settings
* Confidence supporting families with complex needs in a culturally safe and responsive manner
Requirements:
* Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
* Child and Family Health qualifications
* Current NSW driver’s licence and ability to drive for work
* Authorised Nurse Immuniser or willingness to complete
