What You’ll Do: Open and close Merthyr Tydfil Central Library, ensuring smooth daily operations. Support the Library Manager with tasks like supervising staff, overseeing the Homelinks service for housebound users, and managing the Reservation Service. Provide excellent customer service at the library reception—issuing and discharging books, shelving, enrolling members, collecting fines, and answering enquiries. Assist library users with IT equipment and online services, helping them navigate digital resources with confidence. Compile visitor statistics and handle banking of takings, ensuring accurate records for the library team. What We’re Looking For: Skills: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to assist a diverse range of people, from school children to housebound users. Qualities: Organised, approachable, and reliable, with a passion for helping others and supporting community services. Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing or admin role is a plus; familiarity with library services or IT support is desirable but not essential. Requirements: Comfortable working a 24-hour week on a 3-week rota (including one Saturday every 3 weeks); ability to travel to High Street, Merthyr Tydfil; eligibility to work in the UK.
