Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Analyst / Team Manager within our Performance, Information & Insights (PII) team based at Ailsa Hospital.


Hours:

Full-time (36 hours).

This post is offered on a permanent basis and is a hybrid role.


What you will do:

You will play a key role in supporting the organisation through the delivery of high-quality data analysis, statutory reporting, and the provision of insightful intelligence to inform operational and strategic decision-making.

* Devise and promote the implementation of a framework to supply high level advice on the use and interpretation of data and information, and the application of analytical skills and theory. Additionally, you will help build capacity and capability within the Performance, Information and Insights team, as well as within the wider organisation, in the application of analytical techniques and data interpretation, and in presentation and dissemination of analytical findings.
* Ensure the provision of data, information and analytical expertise is available to the organisation to support the Acute Directorate, the Corporate Directorates and to provide input in data, information and analytical discussions at the interface with the Health and Social Care Partnerships.
* Define and enhance the role of the team within the context of organisational need, ensuring cognisance of the input of other teams within their Directorate, and to line manage and develop staff within the team, undertaking the associated management processes to support this.
* Deploy expert skills and experience in performance and information analysis in order to lead a highly numerate and analytical team, managing an extensive team work plan, and developing the team and individuals. Whilst managing the demands on the team for information and analytics resources, the post holder will also require to scope and shape the future role of the team to meet the diverse and changing needs of the organisation. This will require strategic insight as well as tactical management of the team, deploying team members to undertake tasks or to attend groups which require information and analytical skills.
* Provide a high level of skills and expertise to support NHS Ayrshire & Arran to take forward changes as a result of national direction, or regional and local decisions, including shifting the balance of care to meet the current and future needs of patients.


Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

* Master’s degree or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience in a relevant and highly numerate or analytical discipline.
* Degree in numerate subject or equivalent qualification.
* Experience of working at a strategic level.
* Significant experience of working directly with Directors, Non-Executive Directors and senior managers.
* Experience of managing staff and in supporting their development.
* Successful track record in developing structures and systems to support the attainment of organisational goals.
* Ability to demonstrate and communicate a practical and theoretical understanding of information and performance management techniques.
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework and guidance for the NHS, and the Integration of Health and Social Care, including practical application of these together with the policy and planning framework nationally, regionally and locally.
* Demonstrable awareness of the policy framework for health and social care delivery and its interface with planning partners, particularly IJBs/Health and Social Care Partnerships.
* Recent experience of working in the NHS, other public sector or relevant organisations within a relevant role associated with a data intelligence or information or performance management role.
* Highly proficient in data analysis with excellent numeracy and statistical skills.
* Knowledge of practical application of software packages in support of the key result areas including knowledge of statistical software packages.
* Ability and demonstrable experience in the drafting and presentation of papers, reports and related correspondence for the NHS Board, associated Governance groups, Directors and senior managers.
* A pragmatic and flexible approach to problem solving.
* Developed awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability, and mental agility, to work through issues and think at both a strategic and operational level.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication and influencing skills (both written and oral) and an ability to establish productive working relationships.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran may be able to offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and any other required criteria.
