We are looking to recruit high‑value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP delivers major projects, site‑wide improvements and supporting services.

The Environment and Sustainability Lead is the senior environmental and sustainability authority within PPP, responsible for integrating environmental protection, compliance and sustainability performance across all partners and projects. This role ensures that environmental requirements are embedded into engineering design, construction delivery, risk management, commercial frameworks, and site operations.

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Environment and Sustainability Lead to help create a cleaner, safer environment for future generations. You’ll be instrumental in embedding sustainable practices across a portfolio of highly complex and critical national infrastructure projects in the nuclear decommissioning industry and adjacent areas.

Working across a collaborative delivery ecosystem comprising designers, integrators, civil and process engineering experts, you will drive innovation, culture change and ESG impact, shaping some of the UK’s most important projects.

Key responsibilities

As a Environment and Sustainability Lead you will have a:

* High level of professional knowledge and skills in sustainable engineering design, building physics, compliance modelling and operational energy assessments.
* Demonstrable experience in operational energy and life‑cycle carbon costing.
* Strong working knowledge of sustainability including best‑practice benchmarks, reporting, tools and techniques such as BREEAM, CEEQUAL, PAS2080.
* A commitment to sustainability with a strong sense of purpose and drive to make a positive difference within a sustainable business context.
* A track record of effectively collaborating, innovating and driving sustainable outcomes through project design processes.

This exciting role will incorporate leadership and support relating to project development and general environmental management work, assisting projects to meet legal and company requirements and to drive improved environmental performance.

What you will need

* Degree or equivalent knowledge & experience in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience leading sustainability on major construction or infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of UK sustainability legislation, standards (e.g. PAS2080, ISO 14001) and carbon/net‑zero frameworks.
* Skilled in managing stakeholder engagement and translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives.
* Collaborative and pragmatic approach, seeing the bigger picture while mindful of the stringent regulatory environment we and our clients routinely operate in.
* Membership of IEMA, CIOB, ICE or a similar recognised body; working towards or holding chartership is preferred.
* Experience with or good working knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, WELL or similar certifications.
* Good knowledge of PAS2080 and experience in its implementation.
* Familiarity with Science‑Based Targets, carbon accounting platforms or social value measurement frameworks.

Benefits
