Mechanical Technician / Overhaul Technician / Rolling Stock Heavy Technician
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to carry out heavy maintenance on a fleet of vehicles in Derby on a 18‑month contract basis.
Rate: £19.59 per hour (PAYE) or £26.59 per hour (Umb) for a 40‑hour week, Monday to Friday only, with potential overtime.
Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles to laid‑down standards and procedures.
* Work on the underframes of rail vehicles to refit/replace components as part of the overhaul.
Qualifications
* Experienced engineer, qualified to NVQ Level 3.
* Proven experience in rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities such as underframe or bogie overhauls, or experience in a heavy engineering industry such as plant, REME, HGV, PSV, tractors, etc.
* Understanding of depot operations, along with working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering (desirable).
