Service Assistant - Morpeth Summary We’re looking for a Service Assistant to join us at Wallington to support our team throughout our visitor operations. Salary : 12.25 per hour Duration: fixed term contract until 31st December 2025 Hours : 12 hours per week. This will be made up of 3 days a week, working 4 hours a day, 11.30am-3.30pm. What it's like to work here Reporting to the Senior Collections & House Officer at Wallington, you’ll be based in the historic mansion as part of the collections & service team. Gifted by Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, Socialist MP and ‘illogical Englishman’, the 13,500-acre estate has something for everyone. Wallington, sitting in a rural corner of Northumberland approximately twenty miles north-west of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, was once home of the unconventional Trevelyan family. The informal house, at the south end of an estate which extends to nearly 13,500 acres, is surrounded by parkland and arable farmland. What you'll be doing The core part of your job is to give vital and positive support to your colleagues, wherever you’re needed, with a focus on greeting and helping visitors. Most importantly, you’ll be talking to visitors, answering their questions and making sure they can find everything they need to enjoy their day. You'll provide a warm welcome to those visiting, ensuring they have information and assisting with their orientation, whilst also ensuring the historic collections are safe. Day to day you'll deliver high standards of service and presentation, be involved in telling the the stories of the families who lived here, the collections and the work that the National Trust continues today. You will need to adapt quickly to changing visitor flow as well as different audiences making sure everyone feels welcome and has a memorable visit.
