We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £55,000, depending on experience and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme and private medical cover.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
Build, install, and configure control panels and electrical systems for warehouse automation solutions.
* Develop, support, and commission Siemens TIA S7‑1500 PLC and HMI software, ensuring seamless system functionality.
* Perform rigorous testing, diagnostics, and electrical servicing to maximise uptime and efficiency.
* Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate hardware and software across full project lifecycles.
* Act as the first point of contact for 24/7 out‑of‑hours PLC/HMI issues, delivering remote diagnostics and on‑site support when required.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field, plus City & Guilds 2391 (Initial & Periodic Inspection and Testing).
* Strong working knowledge of BS7671, H&S regulations, industrial risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
* Proven ability to build and install industrial control panels, including wiring, component selection, and BS‑standard layouts.
* Hands‑on experience with Siemens TIA Portal / S7‑1500 PLC programming, including code modifications, uploads/downloads, and software fault‑finding.
* Skilled in electrical and control system commissioning, troubleshooting (hardware & software), interpreting schematics, and performing testing/calibration using multimeters, insulation testers, etc.
