About the Role
Join our established Equipment Maintenance Team in Charminster to ensure operational equipment is kept ready for use by firefighting crews. Full training will be provided on breathing apparatus, gas‑tight suits, life jackets, fire extinguishers, helmets, working‑at‑height equipment and vehicle stabilisation equipment. Background in engineering or plant/gardening machinery is welcomed.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair the service’s equipment, ensuring it remains fit for purpose and available when required.
* Deliver and collect service vehicles across the County.
* Assist with budget management, keep accurate records and liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to diagnose and rectify defects.
Qualifications & Skills
* Meet the essential requirements as outlined in the Person Specification.
* Strong eye for detail and pride in the work performed.
* Good understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
* Willingness to undertake specific training required as part of the induction process and to gain post‑entry skills.
Other Information
* Category C licence required; we will consider training applicants who do not currently hold it.
* Must fulfil significant travel requirements; service vehicles are predominantly manual. Majority of work is based in Dorset but travel across the service area is required.
