Our aerospace client is looking for a Design Quality Engineer to work closely with engineering teams, embedding quality principles into new and existing designs through structured methodologies such as APQP, DFMEA, and formal design reviews. Responsibilities You will help assure that products and services meet customer requirements by developing and implementing control plans and independently managing any non-conformance issues. Using data analysis and tools like APQP, DFMEA, Problem-Solving, and Design Reviews, you will proactively identify risks and integrate lessons learned into new projects. You will also provide direct support to engineering teams and contribute to assuring compliance with internal and external quality standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the Design Organisation Independent Monitoring Activities across the Airframe Center of Competence (CoC) in support of the Airframe Design Assurance Nominee. Your Duties: - Foster a Strong Quality Culture in an Engineering team. You will deliver concise and timely reports for senior management and systematically gather Voice of the Customer (VoC) feedback. - Contribute to projects aimed at resolving critical company issues, supporting the project leads with stakeholder communication and tracking project progress - Facilitate key quality processes like DFMEA, Problem-Solving, Design Reviews, and extended Technology Readiness Level (TRL) Risk Reviews, ensuring all activities meet customer expectations for quality and timeliness. - Roll out “knowledge boosters” addressing key upskilling needs for the Airframe Engineering community. - Deputize for the team leader in critical customer meetings at senior management level when needed. Needed skills: - A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or demonstrable experience and a strong willingness to learn in: - Relevant Quality and Engineering processes - Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) - Root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 9S, 8D, etc.) - Research & Technology (R&T) methodologies - Project Management - Teamwork and Communication: Good people skills and professional behaviours when interacting with all levels of the management structure. - Adaptability: An exceptional ability to learn quickly, paired with a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward the workload. - Communication: Good English skills, both verbal and written. - Technical Proficiency: Advanced IT skills (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office), optional: some programming experience or willingness to learn (JavaScript, Google Apps Script, Python) Please note this role is inside IR35 Rate £32.92 per hour Umbrella or £24.61 per hour PAYE plus holiday pay £3.58 per hour Contract until 01/03/2027 – possible extension beyond that
