Equans is looking for a Fabric Engineer to join our team based at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role with a competitive salary and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
* Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex fabric systems in accordance with relevant standards, operational procedures and legislation.
* Obtain Competent Person status following training for systems such as confined spaces, working at height and other suitable areas.
* Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across the site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
* Completing reactive works across the hospital and completing daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks.
* Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
* Responsible for participating in the ‘on call’ rota including Gritting and Snow Clearance, as directed by Senior Management.

Who are you?
* Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
* Good knowledge and understanding of a range of complex fabric systems including but not limited to fire doors, passive fire protection, drainage systems, cladding and roof systems, and general joinery repairs.
* Post‑apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment.
* Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline up to City & Guilds level.
* Previous Competent Person/Authorised Person experience with confined spaces or working at heights (Desirable).
* Previous work within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable).
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
