Applications Engineering Manager – Tyne & Wear. We are delighted to represent a prestigious, multinational manufacturing organisation in their appointment of an Applications Engineering Manager. The role holder will take a lead role in driving growth within the projects business and maintaining a regular flow of orders. Working closely with international sales teams and the project engineering department to ensure the most efficient system to tailor bids, using technical, commercial and people leadership skills to ensure the applications engineering team provide optimum value and the highest ratio of bid to project reward. This role offers complex engineering solutions to several sectors, including significant support to the oil and gas sector. The business is experiencing growth due to recent project awards and offers a stable and challenging environment, with genuine opportunities for progression.
The Applications Engineering Manager will liaise, communicate and influence on an international basis with sales teams, customers and internal team members, ensuring the business continues to hit key KPIs around RFQ submissions, cost accuracy and bid quality, whilst mentoring and coaching the applications engineering team to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
* Lead growth within the projects business and maintain a regular flow of orders.
* Collaborate with international sales teams and the project engineering department to tailor bids using technical, commercial and people leadership skills.
* Ensure the applications engineering team provides optimum value and a high bid-to-project reward ratio.
* Hit key KPIs around RFQ submissions, cost accuracy and bid quality.
* Mentor and coach the applications engineering team to reach their full potential.
Qualifications
* Educated to Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level in Engineering (all disciplines considered).
* Impressive track record in application engineering and engineering management on capital projects, in an oil and gas, petrochem or aviation setting.
* Experience in filtration, pumps, valves, pressure vessels or similar systems and components is highly desirable.
* Demonstrable achievement in leading an engineering team and working in an international setting.
* Inspiring, motivating people manager with a focus on coaching and developing a team of engineering professionals.
* Exposure to projects in the Middle East is advantageous.
* Strong commercial acumen, numerate, and accustomed to bid management, with effective document control systems and gated, professional sales management processes.
* Occasional travel to other EMEA locations will be required.
Location and Working Arrangements
This role will be based in the North East UK and is mainly office based with some occasional home working (one day per week as desired).
