Business Area:
For over 25 years, our team has used our software products and engineering procedures to create advanced analytics and model predictive control applications for customers worldwide. Our applications integrate with existing manufacturing systems to drive improvements in product quality, production capacity, and energy usage. Our business is not dependent upon any one industry, and our staff receives broad exposure to customers and processes in varied manufacturing environments. Currently, we have significant business in food, polymers, biofuels, refining, and minerals processing, with many exciting developments to expand.
The Role:
As an Advanced Process Control Engineer, you will be at the heart of custom application delivery teams that use Rockwell Automation’s advanced analytics and model predictive control products to create online applications to improve our customer’s manufacturing processes. You will assess the customer’s process, develop mathematical models that can be used to predict system behavior, and configure online applications that use this knowledge to calculate process setpoints to dynamically control product quality, production capacity, and energy usage. You will be responsible for the full technical implementation of your projects, from preliminary design through commissioning and customer acceptance, including supporting hardware installation and system integration.
Responsibilities:
* Perform technical project activities (design, system integration and installation, data analysis and modeling, application development, site installation, commissioning, etc.) as assigned by the RTM (Regional Technical Manager).
* Identify technical issues impacting project performance (scope creep, delays, change orders) and report to RTM.
* Provide project information related to cost performance, performance guarantees, etc., to RTM.
* Support documentation of best practices for application development.
* Lead advanced analytics projects and mentor less experienced engineers.
Support:
* Provide product, engineering, and application support to existing customers.
* Perform system and application health checks, performance analyses, and develop reports with findings and recommendations.
* Follow up on recommendations to maximize application value.
* Support market development activities and participate in sales closure activities as requested.
Management:
* Engage in professional development to remain billable and cost-effective.
* Support project staffing to maximize department margins.

* Meet or exceed customer satisfaction indices.
* Deliver projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
* Maintain or improve project margins.
* Maintain or achieve industry certifications.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or equivalent in chemical engineering or related field with heavy focus on modeling, statistics, or process control.
* Strong interest in automation, process control, and advanced model-predictive applications.
* Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
* Experience leading complex projects in a process industry.
* Experience with instrumentation, industrial control systems, and supervisory control applications.
* Experience with advanced process control implementation or business case development.
* Familiarity with DCS (SCADA, HMI, etc.) and/or PLC configuration.
* Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international trips.
* Ability to comply with customer safety and health requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in implementing advanced control solutions in process manufacturing.
* Experience in leading complex projects.
* Degree in chemical engineering or related field with modeling, statistics, or process control focus.
* Experience with industrial computing, networking, OPC, SQL data communications.
* Experience with Rockwell Automation or competitors’ products.
