About The Opportunity
Staffordshire Police are seeking exceptional individuals with a proven background in IT Architecture or extensive hands-on experience in software development, network administration, infrastructure, or information technology.
The Role
As Architect, your role will involve planning, designing, developing, and documenting solutions, including creating architectural documentation such as Decision Papers, High-Level Designs, and Roadmaps. You will influence digital strategy, planning, assurance, and standard-setting, both internally with stakeholders and externally with strategic suppliers.
You will contribute to the governance of IT solution design, maintain and set the overall Enterprise Architecture for the force, and ensure adherence to standards (National and Local), design principles, and architecture methodology. You will be part of the Technical Design Authority (TDA), responsible for assessing and selecting appropriate technologies to meet organisational needs.
Reporting to the Lead Architect, you and the Architecture team will understand current and future requirements, create roadmaps, set strategies, and identify opportunities for leveraging information and digital technology.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Solution design for software and supporting infrastructure
* Contributing to impact assessments and providing SME input on initiatives
* Reviewing legislation impacts on adopted technology standards
* Using architecture to guide and align programme solutions for coherence and efficiency
* Ensuring programmes deliver the right technology components and reusing existing investments
* Presenting architecture outputs to stakeholders
* Defining and governing infrastructure standards and capabilities
* Engaging with stakeholders to define and promote suitable solutions
* Participating as a member of the Technical Design Authority
* Keeping abreast of commercial and technical developments for future solutions
About You
You will possess strong technical and interpersonal skills to design, describe, and manage solutions. Experience in evaluating environments and applying business, data, applications, and technology elements to solve problems is essential.
You should have demonstrable experience in software design, programming languages, networks, and infrastructure, and be capable of managing services offered by external vendors.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are required to convey complex solutions effectively. Ability to commute to Staffordshire Police HQ within 90 minutes is preferred.
