Driving: Essential (Full UK Driving Licence Required)
Wolverhampton City Council is seeking an experienced and HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist to join their service on a locum basis. This is a long-term assignment offering stability, guaranteed work each month, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children and young people across the city.
The successful candidate will undertake statutory assessments, deliver high-quality psychological advice for EHCP processes, and work closely with schools, families, and multi-agency partners to support positive educational outcomes.
Role Overview
1. Deliver statutory psychological assessments (including EHCNAs) in line with SEND legislation.
2. Provide clear, evidence-based written advice for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments.
3. Visit schools and settings across Wolverhampton to complete face-to-face assessments (driving required).
4. Work collaboratively with families, SENCOs, teachers, and partner professionals.
5. Promote inclusive practice and support improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
6. Maintain high-quality case records and meet statutory deadlines.
7. Manage your caseload independently while meeting service priorities.
Requirements
8. HCPC registration as an Educational Psychologist.
9. Significant experience working within a local authority or similar educational psychology setting.
10. Strong understanding of SEND legislation, statutory assessments, and best practice guidance.
11. Excellent communication, analytical, and professional report-writing skills.
12. Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
13. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (travel across Wolverhampton is essential).
