An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Band 6 Specialist CAMHS Nurse based in Tonteg Hospital. This post is part of our Rapid Intervention Service for Eating Disorders in Cwm Taf Locality. The position is a fixed‑term role of 22.50 hours per week, spread over two working days.
This role is for a Mental Health Nurse who will work within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service. You will manage a caseload of young people with eating difficulties, often accompanied by co‑morbid mental health issues, and you will have coordinated responsibility for patients. The work will involve multi‑disciplinary collaboration and bespoke, evidence‑informed care packages.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of young people with eating disorders and co‑morbidity.
* Coordinate patient care and provide comprehensive assessments and interventions in partnership with the tier 2/3 CAMHS team.
* Supervise Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) and other junior staff where appropriate.
* Provide mental‑health assessments and interventions for children and young people referred to the service.
* Make balanced decisions and use a positive approach in high‑pressure situations.
* Conduct inter‑agency liaison with local authority, third‑sector services, child and family social services, education departments and other agencies.
Qualifications
* Band 6 or equivalent mental health nursing experience.
* Clinical nurse specialist experience in CAMHS or specialist eating‑disorder services.
* Experience managing caseloads of children and young people with eating disorders and co‑morbidity.
* Ability to provide comprehensive assessments and interventions within tier 2/3 CAMHS.
* Strong communication and inter‑agency liaison skills.
* Experience supervising staff such as HCSW and junior nurses.
* Clean driving licence and willingness to travel between clinics.
* Knowledge of Welsh desirable; bilingual Welsh/English preferred.
* Registered nurse with current registration.
