Working within the Commercial Procurement teamyou’llbe responsible forcreating and delivering a procurement plan for a range of spend categories. This will include identifying opportunities for consolidating spend, improving resilience and undertaking tendering processes.
With an overall department spend of over £650m pa, this role will bebasedin theEnabling ServicesProcurement Team, who covera very diverserange of activities, includingEnergy, Consultancy services, Customer services,HRservices,Legalservicesand Insurance services.This role will have a specific focus onConsultancy Services (Asset Management, Environmental,Regulatory,other) andEnergy(renewable, electricity,gasandotherrelated services).
You will be someone who takes ownership to drivestrategic thinking,innovative solutions,costreductionand supplier performance improvement whilst providing a strong procurement service to ourinternalbusiness stakeholders. The ability to projectmanagewill be critical to your success in this role,along with a proventrack recordof excellent stakeholder engagement and management. An ability to ‘hear’,understandandchallengethe business needs are essential requirements.You'llneed to be able to deliver effective strategies with tangible value add benefits that achieve the business outcomes.
What does it take to be a Procurement Specialist?
1. CIPS Professional standard and membership or studying towards
2. Experience in Procurement ofenabling services
3. Building strong working relationships with stakeholders and third parties
4. Demonstrable experience of running a complex tenderprocess includingthe RFI/RFP process
5. The ability to run complex strategic sourcing events from strategy to completion
6. Experience of building commercial models, developing meaningful and realistic KPI’s
7. Proven experience of negotiation to achieve valued business outcomes
8. A willingness to think and challenge standard protocols
9. Cost optimisation of market or commercialopportunities
10. Overseeing supplier performance to ensure best practice is always followed
11. Ensuring agreements support the Purchase to Pay process and allow for easy and effective procurement
12. Understanding and taking an interest in key trends and any regulatory impacts within the market, using these to help develop both category and sourcing plans to exploit or mitigate these, whilst ensuring creative solutions are aligned to our businessobjectives.
