Paid 6-month internship (running from August/September 2025 – February 2025) or 12-month internship (running from August/September 2025 – August/September 2026). About Innovia Innovia Technology has an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with a background in Product/Industrial Design to join our team for a 6 or 12 months paid internship at our Cambridge UK offices. Innovia Technology specialises in ‘front end innovation’ - which means we create and work on the very start of breakthrough ideas. For the duration of your internship, you’ll join our holistic project teams collaborating to solve challenges and invent something new for our global clients across industries such as fast moving consumer goods, luxury, food and beverage, consumer healthcare and more. What you’ll get Working closely with other specialists with backgrounds such as product design, organic chemistry, public health, theoretical physics, chemical engineering or veterinary medicine, you'll get an opportunity to greatly expand your thinking, gain insights into various specialisms and see how they collaborate in a holistic project setting. We'll offer you training to make it easier to bridge the gap between studying and working as a Design intern. Key Activities As an Intern, you will spend most of your time working on innovation challenges faced by our clients. You’ll typically work on 2-3 projects at once, and the nature of these projects can be remarkably varied, but here is a list of key activities you will likely be performing: - Bringing design thinking and creativity to innovation challenges. - Collaborating closely with colleagues from different fields to solve broad and complex problems. - Challenging conventional thinking and industry-specific assumptions. - Creating new ideas, solutions and insights for clients in a wide range of industries. - Using your skills to communicate ideas, concepts, and create a narrative that inspires and informs clients. - Bringing ideas to life through data visualisation, infographic design, rapid concept mock-ups, Photoshop, graphical illustration, CAD, modelling and prototyping. - Supporting Innovia’s sales and marketing teams by designing engaging graphical media for print and digital platforms. What We’re Looking For The description below should also provide some insights into the role. It is important that you: - Have at least completed the second year of your undergraduate degree by June 2025. We accept applications from graduates. - Demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of Product/Industrial design, and the ability to apply them to complex problems. - Are keen to work in a dynamic commercial and client focussed environment. - Have a strong interest in collaborative teamwork and have good communication skills. - Are comfortable giving your considered opinion on complex questions, and taking part in lively discussions. - Have excellent timekeeping and task management skills, to be able to take responsibility for your own work and time. - Have an interest in applying your creativity across a wide range of industries, and the ability to quickly learn about new areas. - Have a structured design process which shows how you think about problems and iterate ideas. - Excel in the Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign). - Experience in other relevant design programmes, Solidworks, Keyshot, Figma, Premier Pro, etc is a bonus. - Are committed to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative working and learning environment. Important Practical Considerations Office attendance: Our internship is a full-time role undertaken in-person at our Cambridge, UK offices. Remote working: Unfortunately, this internship opportunity is not suitable for applicants who wish to work remotely. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Tech: We use Macbook laptops and this will be provided for you on your first day. Applications deadline: Applications close on 25 June 2025 Interview timelines: Interviews will take place in July 2025 Offers: Decision making and offer stage in July 2025 Internship duration: The internship runs for 6 or 12 months based on individual preference.
