CNC Miller Setter/Operator/Programmer – Asquith Machine
Location – Ashton-under-Lyne
Pay rate: £19.95 – £23.94 per hour (depending on skill and experience)
About the Role
Our client is a leading precision engineering and machining provider, specialising in high-value, complex components for aerospace, automotive, power generation, and offshore industries. They operate a state-of-the-art facility with large-scale CNC machinery and a strong focus on quality, precision, and innovation.
We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator to take ownership of an Asquith CNC milling machine equipped with a universal head and Fanuc control, with offline CAD/CAM programming capabilities. This is a key role for someone who thrives on complex, high-precision work.
Key Responsibilities
* Program, set, and operate a CNC Asquith milling machine (multi-axis with universal head).
* Create and optimise high-level CNC programs using Fanuc control and offline CAD/CAM software.
* Manage tooling, offsets, and setups for large, complex components.
* Work from detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specifications.
* Perform in-process inspections and ensure finished parts meet tight tolerances.
* Develop machining strategies to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and maintain precision.
* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior operators and setters.
* Maintain exceptional standards of safety, machine care, and workplace organisation.
Candidate Requirements
* Extensive experience programming, setting, and operating large CNC milling machines.
* Strong expertise with Fanuc CNC controls; offline CAD/CAM experience essential.
* Proficiency with multi-axis machining and universal head operations.
* Experience in aerospace, automotive, or power generation sectors preferred.
* Able to work independently and manage complex machining projects.
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight tolerances.
* Previous experience on Asquith or similar heavy-duty CNC machinery is highly desirable.
Working Hours
Night Shift:
* Monday – Thursday: 18:00 – 06:00 (4 x 12-hour shifts)
* Overtime Friday, Saturday, Sunday available
Compensation & Benefits
