What you’ll be doing
1. Collaborating with a team of passionate engineers who share a commitment to building innovative, industry-leading platforms while continuously developing their own skills.
2. Acting as a key decision-maker during cyber incidents, ensuring mitigation controls and response measures are effective and appropriate.
3. Providing expert security advice and remediation guidance to BT’s Lines of Business and external customers.
4. Owning and completing integration testing for new products and services, including producing all necessary supporting documentation.
5. Proactively supporting your team leader and line manager to achieve team objectives.
6. Maintaining full awareness of the importance of safeguarding sensitive customer information at all times, reinforcing BT’s reputation as a trusted organisation.
What skills you’ll need
7. Hands-on engineering experience with at least one of the following: network and security platforms (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FirePower, Palo Alto), cloud environments (Azure/AWS), or scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash). We value engineering talent over specific vendor or language expertise.
8. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, the OSI seven-layer model, and how data networks are structured and operate.
9. Solid knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
10. Familiarity with native cloud security and operating systems such as Linux/Unix and Windows.
11. Experience in Security Operations, ideally from a 2nd Line perspective.
12. Awareness of modern engineering practices, including continuous delivery and integration.
13. Ability to support team operations and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
