Role
As a QA Engineer, you will champion day‑to‑day QA activities within an Engineering team. Your responsibilities include driving test analysis, creating, maintaining and executing automated test suites, and performing manual exploratory testing of new releases and bug fixes as required. You will promote a quality focus within the team, driving a culture of continuous improvement in quality and automation in alignment with Bango’s QA Strategy.
Responsibilities
* Promoting quality early in the development process, encouraging a shift‑left mindset in the team’s way of working.
* Create, maintain, and execute automated tests to support agile software development and the automation strategy.
* Run exploratory and usability tests using a range of test tooling.
* Contribute to and promote best practices of the QA team and Bango’s QA strategy.
* Influence the team on best approaches to testing, guiding design of development test automation suites.
* Analyse upcoming work to create appropriate testing plans.
* Promote an automation‑first and quality‑driven development mindset across the teams.
Essentials
* Experience with open‑source test automation tools (e.g., JUnit, Pact, Cucumber) and building automated functional regression test suites.
* Experience with test automation in programming languages (Python, Java, Golang).
* Experience testing APIs, REST & SOAP Web services.
* Experience with Postman, Hoppscotch or similar API testing tools.
* Good analytical mind and problem‑solving skills, alone or brainstorming with colleagues.
* Strong investigative skills to find, outline and fix issues in complex microservice deployments.
* Strong communication skills, both spoken and written – to talk about your work with technical and non‑technical people.
* Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies and techniques.
* Working experience in Agile development teams and understanding of development processes and concepts.
* Experience with collaboration and tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence.
* Able to influence and manage internal stakeholders to ensure customer objectives are understood and met.
* Able to manage your own time and handle multi‑task delivery within short timescales.
Desirables
* Experience with test automation in scripting languages (TypeScript).
* Experience with BDD test approaches.
* Knowledge of ETL and Data Warehouses.
* Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
* Good knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar.
* Experience with load and performance testing (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
