Job Description
We’re on the lookout for someone who is passionate about Infrastructure back up, and all things related. The individual will be involved in providing high quality Infrastructure backup support to a large multi-client community as part of a customer focused backup support team. They will also support MS Windows server and will need good understanding of Unix and Linux technologies. This individual will play a pivotal role, alongside the rest of the team, to ensure the effective operation and availability of the backup Infrastructure for both external and internal customers.
Essentially, we’re looking for an individual who will be able to deal with support calls, implement technical change and complete project work for clients (working to contracted SLAs and OLAs). Ideally we’d love someone who could work 2-3 days per week from on of our main offices – and the rest from home. Our offices include:

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
7. Providing day to day global operational activities for Backup/Recovery teams including administering Enterprise Backup/Restore and Archival and Retrieval
8. Utilising good verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
9. Ensuring all support calls are dealt with within the SLA timescales
10. Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis of backup and recovery infrastructure
11. Creating and Managing Dataset, Schedule and Retention Policy. Monitoring AVAMAR backups and recovering failed backups
12. Configuring/Managing VMware, OVM & OSSP backups
13. Ensuring backup of critical system/application infrastructure via Avamar
14. Responsible for advanced troubleshooting of Backup/Recovery related issues
15. Proactive backup maintenance of systems, installing patches, upgrades etc
16. Carrying out all backups and log checking
17. Working Independently and managing your own time
18. Identifying, interpreting and evaluating system and network requirements
19. Able to produce reports from Avamar to assist in backup success/failure, capacity planning and consolidation
20. Occasional travel and work at other NEC Software Solutions sites across the UK as required
Qualifications
Essential
21. Most recent role must have been based in backup technology
22. Extensive Experience with both creating and modifying backup policies and configuring new and existing backup clients
23. Demonstrable Experience on Enterprise Level Backup Systems
24. Experience providing support to both internal and external stakeholders.
25. Hands on experience with Multi Site Replication
26. Eligible for Security Clearance
27. Experience or Exposure to Windows
28. Hands on experience with GUI or CLI
29. Recent working experience with vSphere
Desirable
30. Experience working within an ITIL Environment
31. Experience or Exposure to Linux
32. Experience with the support of backup of clients for multiple operating systems (Windows/Linux/OSSP) and applications (SQL/Oracle/mysql)
33. Hands on experience, or knowledge of Dell Avamar Systems
34. Experience working within a large scale Data Centre Environment
35. Basic Understanding of Network Infrastructure – Routing, DNS
