Back of House Supervisor

As Back of House Supervisor, you will lead and support the Stewarding team in delivering the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and operational efficiency across all kitchen and food & beverage areas, ensuring equipment, utensils and back‑of‑house spaces are maintained to luxury standards while supporting culinary and banqueting operations. Bringing a hands‑on and organised approach, you will thrive in a fast‑paced environment, driving team performance and ensuring exceptional operational excellence behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise and support the stewarding team to ensure efficient cleaning and operational processes
2. Assist with the allocation of tasks and ensure smooth workflow during service periods
3. Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards
4. Monitor water temperatures and chemical levels for cleaning processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards
5. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including dishwashing machines and waste systems
6. Support kitchen teams with plate‑ups, equipment provision and service preparation
7. Ensure adequate stock levels of clean equipment, utensils and supplies across all outlets
8. Oversee the transportation, storage and organisation of kitchen equipment and service items
9. Assist with recruitment, training and development of stewarding team members
10. Provide coaching and guidance to ensure consistent performance and engagement
11. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of back‑of‑house areas, including pot wash and storage rooms
12. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene and food handling regulations
13. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards and operational concerns promptly
14. Maintain a professional approach and support a positive team environment

Core Competencies

We are seeking a proactive and dependable professional who demonstrates strong leadership and attention to detail. You should have:

15. Proven supervisory experience in stewarding or kitchen operations, ideally within a luxury hotel environment
16. Strong understanding of hygiene, sanitation and health & safety standards
17. Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
18. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
19. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
20. A hands‑on approach with a willingness to support operational tasks
21. A proactive mindset, ensuring operational efficiency and cleanliness standards are maintained
22. Impeccable personal presentation aligned with professional standards
23. Physical capability to carry out the operational demands of the role
